Haldimand and Norfolk County growing business has an opening for a Commercial cow-calf and feeding farm manager. The position involves ongoing daily interactions with a well managed group of commercial cows and their offspring in an integrated feedlot. We are building a herd that delivers exactly what the consumer wants through artificial insemination and selective breeding. The cows are polite and expect to be treated with respect. The successful candidate will be working independently and closely in a team environment with our family and staff. We are somewhat flexible on hours but some weekends will be required.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Feeding of cows
  • Maintenance of farm and equipment 
  • Calf and heifer care
  • Maintain animal health programs
  • Seasonal field work

These tasks will be expected to be completed on an individual basis and in a team environment.

Requirements:

  • Experience with calving beef cows
  • Knowledge and experience of working with farm equipment
  • Eager to learn
  • Communication and team work skills
  • Knowledge and experience with computers
  • Must have working Canadian status or ability to obtain work visa
  • Must have a valid drivers license

You must be reliable and have a reliable method to get to work everyday.  VG Meats wants your job to work with your family situation so we are flexible in the number of hours we offer.  We have full time (44 hours) and part time positions available starting at 25 hours per week.

VG Meats in Simcoe is operational from 7 am to 6 pm, Monday to Saturday and closed on Sunday.
